National Flag, Insignia and Anthem
National flag
The National flag has two colours arranged in two bands. The upper ribbon is of ruby-red colour and the lower ribbon is black in colour:

The ruby-red colour: Represents the blood shed by Angolans during the colonial oppression era, the struggle for the national liberation and defence of the homeland.

The black colour represents the African continent

In the center there is composition consisting of a cogwheel; a symbol of the workers and industrial production, a machete; a symbol of the peasantry, agricultural production and armed struggle and a star as a symbol of international solidarity and progress.

The yellow cog wheel symbolizes the country’s wealth.
National Insignia
The Insignia of the Republic of Angola is formed of a cog wheel and sheaves of maize, coffee and cotton, representing the workers and industrial production, the peasants and agricultural production.
At the foot of the design, an open book representing education and culture, and the rising sun which represents the new country. In the centre there is a machete and a hoe symbolising work and the start of the liberation struggle. At the top, a star symbolising international solidarity and progress.
In the lower part of the Insignia a golden band with the inscription “Republic of Angola”.

Climate

The National Assembly is the legislative body of the Republic of Angola. It is a unicameral body with 220 Members of Parliament: 130 Members of Parliament (MPs) are elected by single national constituency, and 90 MPs are elected by provincial constituencies.
